I just recently played for a wedding ceremony in this beautiful crisp fall weather that was stylized as a Renaissance Wedding. Invitations went out written on parchment paper declaring the arrival of the wedding date “Hear Ye, Hear Ye”. As the guests arrived taking their seats in the outdoor location, Renaissance and Celtic melodies from the harp filled the air creating a beautiful ambience. The wedding party entered at the appointed moment all clad in period clothing…with the flower girl dressed as a fairy princess. In fact, I was so inspired by the bride’s idea that I too dressed in period clothing….the minister caught on to the idea as well. The bride was beautiful….her hair was adorned with a ring of flowers…a beautiful vision strolling down the garden walk. The banquet hall (also outdoors) was draped in jewel tones of blue, red, and green; and the cuisine was pork with the trimmings. It was a beautiful day for all.
So what inspired this dream for the wedding ceremony….the bride and groom met two years earlier at a Renaissance festival – the atmosphere sparked the romance between them. What a wonderful idea to bring this personal touch to their wedding day. It created a lasting memory for the couple of their chance meeting, their love of this style of music, and the atmoshpere created for exchanging their vows. What is your dream? How did you meet?
Congratulations to Silas and Melanie!!
